Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

At the end of June 2025, I traveled to Geneva to participate in the first in-person meeting of the Global Commission on Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking since the launch of its inaugural report in April. As a commissioner, I contributed to high-level discussions on strategies to implement the Commission’s recommendations at every scale. These conversations were both inspiring and challenging, reminding me of the responsibility we all share to translate policy into meaningful action for those who are often unseen and unheard.

During the meeting, the Commission also connected with influential leaders from the International Labour Organization (ILO), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). These partnerships are critical for building long-term momentum and fostering collaborative solutions toward a world free from exploitation.

From productive discussions in Geneva, to an inspiring conference in London, to a powerful speaking opportunity in New York City, this month has been a whirlwind of learning, connection, and action. And I’m thrilled to share that we’ll soon be hosting an exciting event in Chicago on August 8th, in collaboration with Chicago Fair Trade, Illinois State University, and the Chicago Climate Action Museum — a space where we can continue building community, sharing knowledge, and advancing our mission together.
